Cenzer House, Parel, Mumbai

Welcome Home,

As we mark our tenth year, The Golden Spiral School is thrilled to share a momentous milestone in our journey. Transitioning through a defining period, we are now stepping into a stable, long-term campus at Cenzer House. This move symbolizes the realization of a dream we've cherished since our inception – a dream now becoming a reality, thanks to the unwavering support and preliminary funding from our dedicated parent community.

Embodying Our Philosophy in Every Brick and Beam

The latest and final stage of our evolution is not just about physical space; it's about aligning our infrastructure with the enriching philosophy of Waldorf education. Cenzer House is set to be a nurturing space that truly reflects and enhances our educational ethos. We're on a successful path to building out this campus, with every aspect designed to echo our ecological ethos and commitment.

From the choice of building materials and construction processes to the overall design, we emphasize local crafts and talent, ensuring our practices are sustainable, health-giving, and in harmony with the environment. This approach ensures a setting that nurtures not only our children but also the surrounding natural world.

As we continue on this journey, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Golden Spiral community. Your support and belief in our mission are what make these dreams possible. Together, we're creating a space where education transcends the classroom, fostering a community of learners who are conscious, connected, and prepared to make a positive impact in the world.

Join us in this exciting phase as we bring to life a campus that truly embodies the spirit of The Golden Spiral School.

FACILITIES

A LIVING BREATHING FACADE

The school building is currently enclosed with a glass facade which restricts natural light and ventilation in the classrooms and other learning spaces. Opening the current exterior will transform the learning spaces into a healthier and more positive environment and allow each classroom to house its own garden to be nurtured by the children.

A FLUID LIBRARY EXPERIENCE

The Golden Spiral School’s education program encourages fostering a lifelong love of reading and learning. A warm, inviting, organic space with meaningful resources that enable children to explore and develop personal interests is what we imagine of this space.

AN ORGANIC KINDERGARTEN PARK

We, at The Golden Spiral, honour the importance of child's play as child’s work. Playing and working outdoors furthers a child’s ability to follow natural rhythms and sharpens their developing senses. A play yard surrounded by small trees which can be the children’s play gyms, a little fishpond to nurture and admire, natural bamboo climbing structures to strengthen and sharpen physical bodies, and a little vegetable patch to tend to with love and care is how we imagine the Kindergarten Outdoor Play Park to be.

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTDOOR SPORTS AREA

Waldorf education lays claim to stimulating and nourishing the whole being. Everything that the student experiences affect his/her entire being. Children need to be addressed in body, soul and intellect. The Golden Spiral School has an extensive sports and movement program. Children starting from Grade 1, receive formal training. We would like to offer a space to the children that can lend itself to the training of various athletic, gymnastic and sports activities like discus throw, javelin throw, long jump, basketball, sprint running and the like.

SCIENCE LABORATORIES

The building blocks of scientific discovery begin from the early years, however,
as the child grows in cognitive ability,
a more robust science curriculum nourishes his/her inquiring mind.

In order to develop and solidify scientific knowledge, the school is working towards building out the following laboratories for the children in the secondary section: Chemistry Laboratory, Physics Laboratory, Biology Laboratory, Computer Laboratory.

The Waldorf media curriculum strives to equip high school students with not only the necessary skill set but more importantly, the discretion needed in navigating through the dynamic and complex landscape of information technology, which is emerging as an imminent need of the 21st century individual.

Shaping a Future of Education, Health, and Environmental Consciousness

Our vision for the campus includes developing key features that embody the intersection of quality education, health, environmental consciousness, and community spirit. The library, science laboratories, amphitheatre, and outdoor play areas are all being thoughtfully designed. In the coming years, these spaces will stand as shining examples of our commitment to providing an educational experience that is holistic, nurturing, and mindful of our ecological footprint.

SPACES FOR ARTISTIC EXPLORATIONS
The artistic curriculum provides a wide range of subjects from music, drama, movement arts, painting, drawing and handwork. Through the artistic curriculum, children are introduced to various skills such as knitting, crochet, woodwork, weaving, sculpture, portraiture, tailoring, gardening and cooking. These life skills imbue children with a sense of competence and confidence to positively impact the world as they grow into young adults. Facilities we plan to set up, include: Carpentry and Pottery Studio, Music & Drama Room, Handiwork (Handwork) Room.

AUDIO-VISUAL ROOM

The school runs an in-house Waldorf teacher training program (W.E.P), conducts several parent enrichment sessions and organises periodic student presentations through the academic year. A well-equipped Audio-Visual Room would enhance these critical functions of the school.

COMMUNITY KITCHEN

Waldorf education places the development of each individual child as the focal point, convinced that a healthy individual is a prerequisite for a healthy learner. Keeping this basic fact in mind, The Golden Spiral food culture has come to be one which works in tandem with the seasonality of nature, making it the ideal food to consume at that given time of the year. Meals served are wholesome, nutritious and seasonal. We hope that the school’s organic vegetable produce finds its way into our Community Kitchen and nourishes each one’s mind, body and soul.
